Arthur Fleck is a failed comedian that is forever alone in a crowd, who seeks connection as he walks the streets of Gotham City. Arthur wears two masks, the one he paints for his daily job as a clown, and the guise he projects in a futile attempt to feel like he's part of the world around him. Because of feeling that he never existed, being isolated, bullied, and disregarded by society, Fleck begins a slow descent into madness as he transform into a criminal mastermind known as the JOKER.
D. Connect it to Kohlberg's Moral Development
In the story of Arthur Fleck, I connect it to pre-conventional level which is the Punishment and Obedience where he is motivated by fear of punishment. That's why he did the unthinkable thing. Because of being criticized by the people around him, fearing of being isolated and bullied by them, he's motivated by these kind of action that turns him into a killer clown.
